It's Us vs Cancer

Hi, my name is Omolola Salako and some of my patients call me the People’s Oncologist.

In 2003, my teenage sister was diagnosed with advanced kidney cancer and I did all I could to care for her. That experience sparked off my interest and deep passion in supporting cancer patients and their loved ones.

As my sister’s caregiver, I know what it’s like to live in a place of pain, uncertainty and confusion because of a health condition.

I started off volunteering for cancer organisations, and realised there were less than 40 oncologists in Nigeria at the time. Over the years I set up Sebeccly Cancer Care, Oncopadi Tech and Pearl Oncology Clinics all in a bid to help more people access cancer prevention, treatment, counselling and survivorship services.

Ten years after my sister's diagnosis, I became a Consultant Clinical Oncologist. I have treated people with different cancer types-breast, cervical, prostate, colon, kidney etc. bringing them light on what would have been a dark path.

Cancer and cancer treatment can be very stressful for patients and their loved ones and as an Oncologist, my aim is not just to treat you with chemotherapy, target therapy and radiotherapy, my ultimate goal is to provide you with accurate information, practical tools for coping with cancer and a community of support towards your cancer survivorship journey.

A cancer survivor is anyone living with a history of cancer – from the moment of diagnosis through the remainder of life.

And my aim is to make it easier for you to take care of yourself during and after active cancer treatment. This is where it all starts.
